A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Transport Supervisor to join our Guildford based Logistics team, being responsible for supporting the transport management team in the smooth running of the transport function in line with legal requirements and Company policies and procedures.
This will entail ensuring that all deliveries are made in a timely and efficient manner whilst maintaining a good customer service attitude and approach. In addition, the role will include ensuring all vehicles are maintained in line with legal requirements, drivers are managed to work within the drivers hours and working time regulations, using the company recognised processes to manage full compliance.
Other duties will include making sure health and safety obligations are met, providing a legal and safe working environment for all employees that consistently exceed quality standards required. You must be prepared to maintain the standards expected by the company.
A good overall knowledge of the running of the hub is essential, as is the ability to prioritise tasks, make decisions and remain calm under pressure. The successful candidate will have a strong business knowledge within a logistics environment, be experienced in organising vehicle maintenance schedules and have a good understanding of transport and network planning, gained in a multi-drop environment.
They will ideally have a Transport Operator Awareness qualification along with other Transport qualifications such as NVQ, CPC, Class 1 licence and Class 1 shunting. We are looking for a candidate with a flexible attitude to working hours and willing to work additional hours where necessary.
Additionally, the candidate must be physically fit as all tasks will require a degree of walking, standing, lifting or stretching. Some heavy lifting may be involved. Good communication skills and basic numeracy and literacy are essential as are high levels of common sense, integrity and honesty.
