We are delighted to be working with an innovative client who are looking for a Project Accountant for 6 months who can play a key role in supporting project delivery and business development across the organisation. This role requires a proactive and detail-oriented finance professional who can bridge the gap between finance and project teams, ensuring accurate project accounting and driving financial performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as the main point of contact between Finance and Project Delivery teams, building strong relationships with internal stakeholders.
  • Support the month-end process by preparing revenue recognition files and ensuring accurate financial reporting for projects.
  • Reconcile project accounting with financial accounting to maintain strong internal controls.
  • Investigate project variances and collaborate with Project Managers to address any discrepancies.
  • Monitor project activities and milestones to ensure correct revenue recognition, cost tracking, and invoicing.
  • Understand and apply funding rules to all relevant projects.
  • Work closely with Project Managers to develop realistic financial budgets and forecasts, evaluating financial impacts and outcomes.
  • Provide timely monthly financial updates and analysis for projects, incorporating PMO forecasts to track costs to completion.
  • Reconcile employee timesheets with system uploads on a monthly basis.
  • Manage project receivables, ensuring all revenue claims are submitted accurately and promptly to grant funding bodies.
  • Lead individual project audits as required and manage the closure of project accounts upon completion.
  • Own the preparation of key audit deliverables related to revenue recognition and project reporting.
  • Assist with project-related accruals, prepayments, and transactional activities such as purchase ordering.
  • Support the Finance team with ad-hoc tasks, helping to build resilience and collaboration across the team.
  • Drive continuous improvement across financial processes, identifying opportunities to improve project invoicing and financial awareness within the business.

Requirements:

  • Part qualified or qualified by experience.
  • Government funding knowledge is essential.
  • Project experience having managed budgets.
  • Strong attention to detail, communication skills and adaptability to change.
