EDF EPR Engineering UK (EPR-E) is a subsidiary of Edvance, which is a joint venture between EDF and Framatome, established in 2018 in charge of the design and the realisation of nuclear islands for new projects in France and worldwide. In particular, EDF EPR-E UK is responsible for the design and construction of the nuclear island for Hinkley Point C (HPC) project and preparing the design replication and engineering activities for the Sizewell C (SZC) Project.
At HPC we are building two new nuclear reactors, the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK providing low carbon electricity for around six million homes.
The JDO Layout Engineer works on technical topics related in the scope of works of the Responsible Designer for NI or CI-BOP buildings. Those topics relate to field events such as Open Point (OP), Design Change, Request For Information (RFI), Field Change Request (FCR) and Non-Conformance Report (NCR). In this context the JDO Layout Engineer is responsible for:
- Assessing if the site request has layout impact.
- Assessing requests coming from site that may impact Layout:
- Gathering all needed inputs for the answer;
- Assessing and listing the impacts of the site change on all disciplines and other contractors;
- Producing technical assessment and solution, with supporting justification: 3D models, installation tolerances, introduction notes, Interfaces, Guarantee the design intent, Update deliverables produced by the RD Back-Office if needed Propose 3D model (with support of CAD designer);
Manages and monitors the modifications requested by the various engineering teams, contractors and the client. Acting under delegation of the JDO Layout Disciplines Lead, the JDO Layout Engineer may be responsible for:
- Making sure that methods, referential, tools, process and delegated authority from the back-office teams are complied with.
- Produce in quality and quantity the necessary deliverables to support the project.

Essential Qualifications, Experience and Skills:
- Experience in the management of transverse technical topics.
- Excellent Interpersonal skills, conscientiousness, organisation, writing ability.
- Good organizational, writing, and oral expression skills in English are essential for the realization of the activities of document production, steering and interfaces with the various correspondents.
- Ability to prioritise, to manage numerous interfaces, to question and understand the imperatives of other disciplines.
- Ability to meet commitments and deadlines.
Desirable Qualifications, Experience and Skills:
- Science, Master engineering degree or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in design and/or Layout topics in the following disciplines: civil work, layout, piping, HVAC, electrical.
- Deep knowledge and understanding of layout rules for nuclear project.
- Knowledge of the general operation of nuclear power station and the associated safety aspects (in particular, aspects relating to flooding, fire, radiological protection, etc.).
- Good knowledge 3D design software (Navisworks);
- Experience working in a multicultural environment;
- Knowledge of the HPC project and associated studies/doctrine is a real asset.
