This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established business. The Head of Finance will report directly to the Finance Director and be responsible for ensuring that the finances are managed efficiently and effectively. The Head of Finance will be expected to lead the central finance team, overseeing the day-to-day operational running.

You will be responsible for:

  • Management Accounting and Reporting - Lead monthly management accounts, finance closedown, payroll postings, budget monitoring, and financial forecasting, including variance analysis and action planning.
  • Financial Planning and Advice - Develop 3-year financial forecasts; provide financial advice to budget holders, reporting issues to senior leadership.
  • Budget Setting and Reviews - Conduct regular finance meetings, review KPIs, and support budget alignment with strategic goals.
  • System and Ledger Oversight - Maintain and improve financial systems; oversee sales and purchase ledgers, ensuring timely payments and resolution of issues.
  • Integrated Financial Planning - Drive the development and implementation of software to strengthen long-term planning and resource allocation.
  • Team Leadership and Development - Manage the central finance team, structure roles effectively, lead on appraisals, and provide professional development and training.
  • Strategic Support and Governance - Contribute to company-wide strategy by aligning finance goals with the development plan.
  • Process Improvement and Compliance - Support efficient, compliant financial processes and streamline integration with other systems.
  • Audit and Statutory Duties - Assist with year-end accounts, lead audits, and prepare statutory returns.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration - Work closely with HR and payroll providers, support stakeholders, and maintain strong financial governance across the business.

Skills and Experience: The successful candidate will need to hold a relevant accountancy qualification (AAT, ACCA, ACA, CIMA or equivalent) and have experience in a similar role. You will need proven leadership in financial and team management and excellent interpersonal skills and experience of coordinating and leading meetings.
