About Us: McCartneys of Moira is an award-winning butchery and delicatessen, established over 150 years ago, still remaining in the McCartney Family. We were proud to recently win "Best small butcher in Northern Ireland" at the British Butchery awards. Our team consists of over 20 staff across the Butchery, Delicatessen and kitchen area. Join our team and bring your passion for food to our esteemed establishment!
Responsibilities:
- Preparation to a high standard of a variety of butchery products (beef, lamb, pork, poultry, sausages, burgers, ready meals and value-added products) while following company recipes.
- Ensure food safety and sanitation standards.
- Rotate stock correctly.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization.
- Operate Butchery equipment (sausage filler / mincer / tenderiser / sealing machine / vacuum packer / dishwasher safely and efficiently - training will be given on anything unfamiliar).
- Follow packaging and portion control guidelines.
- Order and receive stock inventory.
- Complete HACCP paperwork and housekeeping duties daily.
- Serving customers whilst providing a high-level service.
- Some shifts will be on our delicatessen counter as required (Full training will be given).
Skills:
- Minimum 2 years' Butchery experience preferred.
- Familiarity with food safety regulations and handling perishable items.
- Ability to work well in a team and collaborate with management & other butchers.
- Basic math skills for portioning products.
- Attention to detail for accurate preparation and presentation.
- Level 2 Food Hygiene (preferred but not essential).
Hours: Permanent full-time position / 41 hours per week Monday to Saturday (Rota) (Please note 1 exception: all staff are required to work the Sunday before Christmas yearly). Hours: Start at 08:00, finish between 17:30 and 18:00 depending on workload. 4 weeks holiday per year plus 8 paid statutory days off. Please note we don't open on December 27th to give staff longer off at Christmas.
