Eden Fabrications is a purpose-built, CARES-accredited steel facility founded in 2016, part of the OB Construction group. We produce everything from reinforcing-steel cages to bespoke structural-steel frames for commercial, industrial and public-sector projects across NI, ROI and the UK. Overview
We are looking for a highly experienced and detail-oriented Senior Structural Steel Detailer to lead the development of accurate, buildable fabrication and erection drawings for a wide range of structural steel projects. This is a key technical role supporting the successful delivery of commercial, industrial and bespoke structural-steel packages from design through fabrication to installation. You will be responsible for producing and coordinating detailed 3D models, GA drawings, assembly drawings and part lists ensuring clarity, accuracy and constructability at every stage. You'll work closely with the Design Manager, project teams, fabricators and site supervisors to ensure drawings meet client requirements, programme deadlines and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Steel Detailing & Modelling: Produce accurate 3D models and fully coordinated fabrication drawings using industry-standard software (e.g. Tekla Structures). Generate GA drawings, connection details, assembly and part drawings, NC/DXF files and material lists. Apply a deep understanding of steel structures, connections, tolerances and fabrication/erection requirements to ensure practical, buildable detailing.
- Design Coordination: Interpret architectural, structural and MEP drawings and integrate them effectively into the steel model. Coordinate closely with engineers, architects and project stakeholders to resolve discrepancies and incorporate design changes. Flag and resolve design queries that could affect fabrication or site installation.
- Project Support: Contribute to project planning by advising on sequencing, buildability and connection solutions. Liaise with factory and erection teams to ensure drawings align with production and installation requirements. Support the approval process by issuing drawing packages in line with programme milestones and managing mark-ups/comments efficiently.
- Quality Control: Review and check drawings created by junior detailers for accuracy, completeness and compliance with company and industry standards. Ensure all outputs follow project specifications, connection-design requirements and relevant codes and tolerances (e.g. BS EN 1090, CE/UKCA marking).
- Mentoring & Leadership: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior or intermediate detailers. Help maintain and improve internal CAD standards, libraries and detailing practices.
What We're Looking For
- Extensive experience in structural-steel detailing, ideally in a senior or lead role.
- Proficient in Tekla Structures (or equivalent 3D steel-detailing software) with a solid understanding of modeling, drawing output and clash detection.
- Deep knowledge of steel fabrication, connection types, site-erection practices and relevant codes/standards (e.g. BS 5950, BS EN 1090).
- Excellent communication and coordination skills to work effectively with engineers, production teams and site staff.
- Strong attention to detail, with the ability to deliver under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently and as a key contributor in a collaborative team environment.
Desirable
- Experience detailing a wide range of structural projects including commercial, industrial and bespoke steelwork.
- Knowledge of fabrication-shop processes and CNC output.
- Exposure to BIM workflows or coordination platforms (e.g. Trimble Connect, Revit).
