Position overview
We are currently looking for a qualified and motivated social worker to join the children's higher grade social worker in Portsmouth. This is a Hybrid role with 2-3 days in the office. This role is within the Fostering Support Team; the core business being support and development of approved mainstream and kinship Foster Carers. Our service is committed to high standards and a culture of restorative practice. We are continuing to increase foster carer numbers and the menu of support to carers year on year. This is an exciting time to join Portsmouth City Council Fostering Service as we strive to further enhance outcomes for looked after children in the city; an example of this is a number of staff are DDP trained. We are committed to professional development and the provision of training to staff. We are seeking a qualified and suitably experienced Social Worker to join our Fostering Service. This is an ideal opportunity to develop specialist knowledge within the fostering sector. You will have the autonomy and responsibility to really make a difference. This vacancy is with the Fostering Support Team. We want individuals to champion the very best social work practice, who are motivated, flexible, enthusiastic, passionate and with a "can do" attitude who share our passion for improving children's and young persons' lives. You will work closely with our children's social work teams to support them in their work to secure permanence for Children We Care For. In doing so you will work with and support foster carers and kinship carers. You will hold a caseload of fostering households, visiting carers on a regular basis offering support and guidance to manage a range of complex needs. You will be required to write high quality supervision records, Household Reviews which you will present to fostering panel and/or court as required. According to service need, lead on placement stability meetings, liaise with placements Team and training services.
