We’re now looking to recruit an Excise Tax Manager to join our brilliant team based in Burton Upon Trent 2 days a week.

Your Purpose:

As the Excise Tax Manager, based in our Burton HQ 2 days a week, you will be instrumental in supporting our operations across the UK and Ireland, with growing influence in the EMEA and APAC regions. Serving as the subject matter expert on Excise and Customs Duties, you will ensure robust compliance frameworks are maintained while managing approximately £600 million in annual excise duty payments. Reporting to the EMEA APAC Tax Director, you will provide strategic tax insights, cultivate strong relationships with tax authorities, and lead a high-performing team committed to delivering value and operational excellence across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Manage, develop and support junior team members, promoting a culture of growth and excellence.
  • Tax Expertise: Provide strategic advice on Excise and Customs duties across products, markets, and regulatory changes.
  • Industry Engagement: Monitor tax trends and represent Molson Coors on the BBPA tax committee.
  • Process Optimization: Enhance tax processes through automation and collaboration with the Tax Team and Shared Service Centre.

About you:

  • Expertise in Excise Duties: Strong technical and commercial knowledge of excise duties.
  • Hands-on Experience: Practical experience of preparing Excise Duty returns (e.g. APPA, W5Ds) and performing reconciliations.
  • Tax Process Proficiency: Working knowledge of tax controls, systems and processes.
  • Business Acumen: Experience of working in or with large to medium-sized businesses.
  • Analytical Excellence: Exceptional analytical and numerical skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Organizational and Management Skills: Strong organizational abilities and adept stakeholder management skills.
