As our Maintenance Manager your role is to maximise availability of the plant and processes and ensure they operate effectively, efficiently and safely by managing the maintenance function of the department. To lead and develop the multi-function team, whilst ensuring compliance to the safety rules and company values.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Ensure all members of the maintenance team are working safely – Risk assessment / LOTOTO / Permits / Work instructions
  • Manage the day to day operation of the maintenance team, to maximise availability of all assets.
  • Manage and control of all contractors used in the maintenance department.
  • Ensure compliance with KI safety policies by championing the importance of safe working methods and practices.
  • Ensure the site complies with all regulatory standards such as DSEAR/ ATEX / Electricity at Work act/ CDM etc.
  • Institute rigorous standards for housekeeping & recommend improvement procedures.
  • Negotiate best costs for all work below purchasing scope of involvement.
  • Promote competition amongst vendors by introducing new suppliers.
  • Assist engineering manager with the management of spare stock value.
  • Support plant CI initiatives by attending CI meetings when requested and delivering actions in an agreed time.
  • Actively participate in CI workshops and promote the CI culture within the plant.
  • Support the Engineering Manager in keeping the Site, buildings and fabric, physical infrastructure and Manufacturing and Assembly assets and equipment, in a well maintained and safe condition.
  • Use of KI internal systems to ensure site documentation is maintained as current.

What we’d love for you to have:

  • The candidate should be an experienced engineer with a degree or equivalent knowledge through experience. Preferably with a mechanical background.
  • Highly tuned people management skills along with strong communication skills.
  • Experienced in the application of Health & Safety procedures with an understanding of the principles of Employment and Safety at Work Legislation & PUWER Regulations.
  • Demonstrable achievements in Continuous Improvement, Change Management disciplines, tools and techniques and evident motivation to impart these to others.
  • Use of a leadership style that creates confidence and commitment across a range of work groups rather than simply with own department.
  • IOSH Safety Qualification or ideally NEBOSH certificate.
  • Flexible in terms of break & finish times to suit the needs of the business.
  • Flexible to carry out any task as requested within their capability (training, competence).
  • Data driven & Result focused.
  • Proactive mind-set and excellent planning skills.
