N
This role is a 12-month fixed term contract role and you must be able to commute to NPL in Teddington twice per week.
As a People Adviser at NPL, you’ll be part of the team that’s at the forefront of delivering a great colleague experience, enabling them to help us achieve our vision and mission. As we continue to grow, you\’ll:
  • Establish a route for colleagues to feel supported with their employee relations queries, offering procedural guidance, signposting, and support where needed.
  • Work closely with the People Adviser team to enhance understanding of early intervention and informal resolution opportunities.
  • Champion our well-being offerings, ensuring colleagues have access to support and scanning the horizon for best practices.
  • Support continuous improvement of our people procedures, using your knowledge of legislation and effective people practices to ensure they are fit for purpose.
  • Manage a portfolio of projects of varying complexity to provide the right tools, data, and guidance to improve the colleague experience.

In everything you do, ensure all interactions with our people are fair, compliant with processes, and legally sound.

No two days will be the same: you’ll liaise with colleagues to deliver on People projects, supporting a positive experience that retains the best talent.

This role is known internally as a People & Development Adviser.

Ideally, you should have a passion for enhancing colleague experience, with strong knowledge and proven experience in resolving employee relations matters. You will have sound judgment to assess risk and determine the best course of action, working closely with the team. Additionally, you will be:

  • A great communicator with the ability to listen, simplify complexity, plan, and deliver effective solutions.
  • Comfortable working independently, managing and prioritizing a diverse portfolio, and delivering results and solutions, especially when solutions are not immediately clear.
  • Tech-savvy, confident with systems and data; experience with MS SharePoint and Power BI (or equivalents) is a bonus.
  • Aligned with our values in your approach to customers, stakeholders, your team, and colleagues, ensuring high-quality delivery.

We seek someone who will thrive in our environment, where we learn from each other, respect each other, and work collaboratively. We value simplicity and clarity over unnecessary complexity.

We actively recruit individuals from diverse backgrounds. However, due to the nature of our work, specific departments may have tighter nationality, residency, and security requirements. You will be asked about this during the recruitment process. To work at NPL, you will need to obtain BPSS security clearance.

Please note: Applications will be reviewed, and interviews conducted throughout the advert\’s duration. The closing date may be advanced at any time. We encourage interested applicants to apply promptly.
