They are seeking an experienced and proactive Production Buyer to support procurement activities and ensure the timely supply of materials for manufacturing.
Job Summary:
The Production Buyer will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing materials, components, and services necessary for production. This role plays a key part in managing supplier relationships, ensuring on-time delivery, controlling costs, and maintaining inventory levels aligned with production schedules.
The successful Production Buyer will:
- Have previous buying or purchasing experience from within manufacturing
- Strong negotiation and supplier management skills
- Knowledge of production planning and supply chain processes
- Proficient in using ERP/MRP systems
- Excellent communication, organisational, and analytical skills
- Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
- Strong attention to detail and a problem-solving mindset
Key Responsibilities:
- Raise purchase orders and manage delivery schedules to meet production plans
- Source, negotiate, and manage suppliers for direct production materials
- Monitor material availability and proactively address shortages or delays
- Work closely with production planning, engineering, and quality teams
- Maintain accurate records of purchase orders, supplier performance, and costings
- Contribute to cost reduction initiatives through alternative sourcing and negotiation
- Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and procedures
- Assist in resolving invoice discrepancies, quality issues, and logistics problems
- Conduct regular supplier reviews and performance evaluations
