Blagdon Retirement Village based in Taunton is looking for a Maintenance Assistant. This is a full-time Monday to Friday role (8.30am - 4pm + on call). As a maintenance assistant in our retirement village, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the overall well-being and satisfaction of our residents by maintaining and enhancing the physical environment of the community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform regular inspections of buildings, equipment, and common areas.
  • Ensure proper functioning of lighting, elevators, and emergency systems.
  • Address and resolve residents' maintenance requests promptly and efficiently.
  • Ensure outdoor furniture and amenities are clean and in good condition.
  • Communicate effectively with residents and staff regarding maintenance schedules, disruptions, and planned activities.
  • Ensure that all open areas of the grounds, including grassed areas, beds, woodlands, boundary fences, roadways, paths, and paved areas are properly maintained to a high standard.
  • Report immediately any defects or faults which may compromise the safety of residents.
  • Undertake regular inspections and monthly checks of the Village with the Facilities Manager.
  • Painting and decorating.
  • Responsible for treating roads and pathways with salt/grit when necessary during winter months.
  • Ensure the structure, fixtures, fittings, and equipment of the Village are properly maintained.
