Are you someone who thrives in a lab environment, loves hands-on technical work, and enjoys turning concept sketches into real-world products? We are recruiting a Prototype Technician to support a fast-paced, innovation-led engineering team bringing new ideas to life.
What You'll Be Doing:
- You'll be the practical link between design and reality - building, tearing down, and testing both our own prototypes and competitor products.
- Expect a varied role that includes:
- Assembling and disassembling prototypes from drawings and schematics
- Executing structured tests to evaluate performance and reliability
- Capturing teardown findings with notes, photographs, and insight
- Supporting engineers with root cause investigations and improvements
- Maintaining a clean, well-organised lab space with fully calibrated kit
- Collaborating closely with product designers, engineers, and quality teams
What We're Looking For:
- A technical qualification (e.g. ONC, HNC or similar) in mechanical, electrical, or industrial technology - or strong equivalent experience
- 2+ years working in a product development lab, R&D, or prototyping team
- Confidence using tools, calipers, multimeters, and similar test equipment
- Ability to follow technical instructions, drawings, and schematics accurately
- Strong documentation habits and a keen eye for detail
Bonus Skills:
- Experience with 3D printers or CNC machinery
- Familiarity with root cause analysis tools (Fishbone, 5 Whys, etc.)
- Previous involvement in structured design or engineering validation projects
Why This Role?
You won't just be assembling prototypes - you'll be contributing to real design decisions, uncovering product insights, and helping shape the next generation of innovative products. If you're methodical, curious, and mechanically minded, this is your chance to be part of something genuinely exciting.
