A vacancy has arisen within our team at Drax Power Station for a Generations Services operator. This is a hands-on role responsible for effective unloading, loading and movement of materials around the Drax Materials handling areas.
Hargreaves Industrial Services provide a varied Operations and Maintenance service to our client at Drax Power Station. We handle, maintain and reclaim materials including FBA, Coal and Mitigant Slurry whilst managing material stocks and transportation using a wide range of Mobile Plant.
The role briefly encompasses the following:
- Assist the Operations Supervisor in all operational activities.
- Conduct pre-start checks on the 66 route and materials handling conveyors.
- Operate Ash Grab Cranes, Vacall and Hiab.
- Conduct inspections of the sediment tanks.
- Carry out cleaning of the Ash Reservoir, Ash Return Water Doc and Ash Trenches.
- Carry out jetting of the ash screens.
- Inspect and monitor the Oily Water interceptor side tanks.
- Pump oil contamination from the interceptors into IBC’s.
- Operate the diesel bowser to re-fill fixed and mobile plant.
- Assist with the cleaning of both fixed and mobile plant.
- Conduct operational activities as required to support the Operations shift teams.
- Locate and identify issues with the plant in conjunction with the control operator.
- Adhere to safe systems of work and work to verbal and written instruction.
- Be flexible and prepared to cover operational activities where required.
- Shall undertake any training required of them in order to maintain the site operation in a safe manner to which they are employed to carry out.
- Conduct inspection of their work areas and carry out a POWRA as set out in the safe working procedures for the task.
- Attend all site / HIS safety meetings / briefings and read and understand all safety and site relevant information.
- Follow, promote and report any activity that deviates site operational rules (e.g. speeding, crossings etc).

- Good communication skills, both with colleagues, other contractors and clients.
- Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
- Must be able to populate, use and keep documented records as part of the role.
- Passport to Safety.
Due to the health and safety risks associated with this working environment, all individuals must comply with face fitted dust mask rules. In order to do so individuals must be clean shaven at all times when on site.
