About The Role

As a Junior Data Engineer, you’ll play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable and reliable data pipelines and infrastructure. Working closely with senior engineers and cross-functional teams, you’ll help deliver clean, accessible, and high-quality data that drives critical business decisions. This is the perfect opportunity for someone with a foundational understanding of data engineering concepts who’s eager to take their skills to the next level.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting in the development and maintenance of data pipelines for collecting, transforming, and storing data from multiple sources.
  • Supporting data validation and quality assurance tasks to ensure accuracy and consistency of data.
  • Helping monitor data flows and resolve basic issues under the guidance of more experienced team members.
  • Collaborating with business analysts, data scientists, and senior engineers to understand data requirements.
  • Contributing to data documentation and process mapping to improve transparency and maintainability.
  • Following company standards for data privacy, security, and compliance (e.g., GDPR).
  • Learning and applying best practices in data engineering and stay current with industry trends and technologies.

The ideal Junior Data Engineer will be/have:

  • Some hands-on experience with data engineering tasks through academic projects, or entry-level positions.
  • Educational background in computer science, data science, engineering, mathematics, or a related discipline (degree or equivalent experience).
  • Familiarity with programming and scripting languages such as Python and SQL.
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure preferred, but AWS or GCP also beneficial).
  • Basic understanding of data pipelines, data warehousing concepts, and ETL/ELT processes.
  • Awareness of data quality principles and version control systems (e.g., Git) is a plus.
  • Willingness to learn about data governance, metadata management, and security practices.
