Torbay Pharma are currently recruiting for a Health, Safety and Environment Specialist to join our team based in Paignton on a full time, permanent basis.
This is a key role for the organisation in which you will be responsible for all things Health and Safety for the site as well as taking a lead on ESG initiatives. You will work with teams across the business to identify risks, report near misses and undertake risk assessments whilst communicating and escalating any issues to management.

About the Role
Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer the Health, Safety and Environment Specialist will be responsible for identifying risks, driving safety initiatives, conducting training, and fostering a culture of safety across the manufacturing facility.
What you can expect in a HSE Specialist role at TP:
- Providing specialist and professional advice to staff, contractors, and managers on matters relating to health and safety.
- Accountable for the delivery of efficient, effective, customer focused, health and safety services
- Be an expert on everything Health and Safety, providing advice, guidance facilitation and practical support to a wide range of staff across Torbay Pharmaceuticals and assurance to the Exec Team through the Health & Safety group.
- Generate reports and analysis on H&S trends and incidents.
- Monitor changes in HSE laws and regulations, updating company policies and procedures as needed.
- Conduct regular inspections, audits, and assessments to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Develop and deliver HSE training programs for employees, contractors, and visitors.
- Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) related to safety and environmental performance.
- Implement sustainability initiatives to reduce the company’s environmental footprint.
- Chair TP Health & Safety group meetings
- To investigate and respond as necessary to all complaints, accident and incident forms
What are we looking for:
- Previous Health and Safety experience within manufacturing
- Strong knowledge of HSE regulations and best practices in manufacturing.
- A good understanding of Root Cause Analysis and other investigative techniques.
- Degree level/ Post grad qualification or equivalent knowledge and experience (i.e. National Educational Board for Occupational and Health – Advanced Practitioner Diploma).
- Knowledge of risk management
- The ability to analyse and report data.
- Ability to negotiate, influence, and communicate effectively with staff of all levels.
- Critical analysis, problem–solving, and evaluative skills.
- Computer literate
Qualifications
- Degree level/ Post grad qualification or equivalent knowledge and experience (i.e. National Educational Board for Occupational and Health – Advanced Practitioner Diploma).
- IOSH or NEBOSH certified
