The Role

As a Printer Support Engineer, you will be part of the front-line team dealing with and owning all Print issues on behalf of our clients. This role will be to support and manage the Printer fleet (majority of HP).Working within a large multi-discipline, multi-site team, the Printer Ops team will be focused on Incident resolution, problem management and process improvement. For this role you will be required to visit different customer sites across West Midlands therefore must be available to work different client sites and will sometimes be required to drive large vans.

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage, respond to and resolve all End User Print based incidents.
  • Installation, configuration and management of Print Devices (primarily HP but also Printronix, Intermec, Fujitsu etc) and Print Servers inc Pull Printing.
  • Liaising with HP for any escalated issues and new printer installation.
  • Perform Printer Move within a site or different sites.
  • Perform Print Server configuration, Safecom configuration
  • Attending Technical support calls and work with multiple teams as part of incident resolution.
  • Performing regular health check of Servers and take part in Change requests and any maintenance activity planned related to Printer estate.
  • Work with and assist projects team with technical issues in the initiation, planning and execution phases of different IT related projects to make sure that the projects are delivered in-time and as per expectations.
  • Maintain agreed SLA levels and always assuring Quality of delivery.
  • Remain visible to customers as the face of IT to listen to their concerns and share as needed.
  • Ensure that problems are logged, investigated, resolved and closed within agreed timescales.
  • Complete data analysis to identify focus points for problem resolution based on customer impacts and documenting RCA’s

Your Profile

Essential skills/knowledge/experience:

  • In Depth and proven experience of Client Operating systems like XP, Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8/10 to MCP certification level.
  • Posses Valid UK driving licence.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Print servers, DSS and JetAdmin.
  • Excellent Client Level Networking/TCP Troubleshooting (DHCP, DNS, 802.11x), VPN.
  • Excellent Hardware Knowledge of HP and other print devices.
  • Excellent knowledge on Safecom and Pull print solution.
  • ITIL Foundation certified
  • Experience working within a large complex IT department/organisation.
  • Ability to understand the Business from an user perspective.
  • Proactively takes responsibility, owns any issues arising and follows through to resolve them (get the required result).
  • Proven focus and ability to Identify and drive through Service Improvements and Incident Reduction.
  • Proven focus on identifying and documenting User and Service Risks and Issues.
  • Ability to communicate and influence at all levels.
  • Ability to co-ordinate incident resolution activity within and across IT teams, to ensure actions are completed within timescales.
