We are now looking for a Project Controls Lead to support and drive forward one of the UK’s most ambitious and complex infrastructure programmes. This is a pivotal role, offering a unique opportunity to lead the development and implementation of integrated Project Controls processes across a major nuclear construction contract. If you have a passion for precision, leadership experience, and a background in managing large-scale project controls, this could be your next step.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Reporting to the MEHA Project Controls Manager, you’ll be responsible for the day-to-day leadership and strategic direction of Project Controls within the contract.
  • Your scope will span all key areas of project governance - from planning, scheduling, and cost control, to risk, change, and performance analysis.
  • You’ll guide a dedicated team, liaise with a broad range of stakeholders, and ensure the consistent application of best-in-class Project Controls standards throughout the lifecycle of the contract.
  • You’ll lead, manage and support Project Controls staff across the contract, ensuring team development and performance.
  • You’ll act as the primary interface between contract-level Project Controls and senior internal stakeholders, including functional leads and alliance partners.
  • You’ll ensure full compliance with project governance frameworks, standards, procedures, and Work Instructions (WI) specific to project controls.
  • You’ll own and oversee all aspects of cost, schedule, and performance reporting across the programme - ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and insight.
  • You’ll implement and drive earned value management (EVM) across the contract, ensuring consistency and integrity of data.
  • You’ll collaborate with the Scheduling team to analyse and maintain programme-level schedules.
  • You’ll maintain cost data using approved cost control systems, producing monthly Actual Cost of Work Performed (ACWP) calculations.
  • You’ll lead the production of cost and cash flow forecasts in alignment with the established Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS).
  • You’ll identify, evaluate, and manage contract-level risks and opportunities, and ensure accurate impact assessments on schedule and cost.
  • You’ll take a lead role in change control - supporting accurate change identification, assessment, and representation within budgets and timelines.
  • You’ll provide clear, consistent reports to internal stakeholders, highlighting performance indicators, trends, risks, and emerging issues.
  • You’ll support forward planning for resource needs and budget alignment across the contract.
What You’ll Bring to the Role:
  • You have a degree in Engineering, Construction, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
  • You have substantial experience in a leadership role within Project Controls on a major construction or regulated infrastructure project.
  • You have a deep understanding of cost, estimating, risk, and scheduling functions within large-scale project environments.
  • You have leadership experience with the ability to manage cross-functional teams.
  • You have experience delivering complex projects in a highly regulated environment - preferably in the nuclear or energy sector.
  • You’re proficient in using key software tools, including Procon, Primavera P6, SAP, and Active Risk Manager (ARM).
  • You have strong reporting, analytical and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Chartered status or equivalent professional qualification preferred.
