Location: Remote (either based in South Korea or the UK)

Contract Dates: Available immediately until 7th September 2025

The Translator for Frieze House collaborates closely with the Head Editor, providing translation to copy for the launch of Frieze House, Seoul in September. Candidates will need to be available immediately and will be required on an ad hoc basis to complete the translation of copy for the launch of Frieze House.

Responsibilities:

  • Translate documents from English to Korean accurately and efficiently, ensuring the preservation of the original meaning and tone.
  • Work collaboratively with the Head Editor and other team members to maintain consistency and quality in translations in line with Frieze style guide.
  • Proofread and edit translated documents as necessary to rectify errors and enhance clarity.
  • Meet project deadlines whilst communicating effectively with the Head Editor and Frieze house team members to clarify requirements and address any issues or concerns promptly.
  • Work effectively under pressure and in live-time scenarios, demonstrating quick response and adaptability to meet urgent project needs.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in handling sensitive information.

Requirements:

  • Proficiency in both English and Korean, with a strong grasp of grammar, syntax, and vocabulary in both languages.
  • Demonstrated experience in translation, with a focus on English to Korean translation.
  • Proven experience in translating and editing both visual art contents and marketing materials.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in translation and proofreading.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • A qualification in translation, linguistics, or a related field is desirable.
  • Candidates must have the right to work in the location they will be working from – either the UK or South Korea.
