We currently have an opportunity to join East Suffolk Council's Property and Place team as a Building Surveyor and Project Manager.

Your role

You will provide a comprehensive and professional Building Surveying design, inspection, and contract management service to internal and external stakeholders, by delivering, controlling and managing building related projects and maintenance services for the council's non-housing property portfolio in a commercial and customer focused way, which achieves program, meets performance targets, and the council's Strategic Plan.

You will support in the management of Health and Safety ensuring that full compliance is met particularly in relation to the CDM Regulations and the Health and Safety at Work Act and that all industry statute is adhered to as well as managing projects using project management protocol to include management of change, risk and budgetary control with engagement and regular reporting to all stakeholders.

What you will need

The candidate will have good sound knowledge of construction techniques, regulations, methods and materials, building pathology, condition surveys, and inspection and the ability to meet deadlines using the various methods and tools available.

  • Band 6 requirements
    • Experienced in managing various building maintenance and projects simultaneously.
    • Considerable experience in a similar role.
  • Band 7 requirements
    • Experience of managing £100K+ construction projects and contracts.
    • Degree Level qualification in construction related discipline.
  • Band 8 Requirements
    • Considerable experience of managing multiple £250K+ construction and development projects and contracts.
    • Band 8 Requirements, as above plus RICS, CIOB, or other equivalent professional body membership.
