About the Role
If you have a compassionate nature and a genuine desire to help others, you could be just what we're looking for. As a Recovery Worker working as part of the Rough Sleepers Team, you will be providing support and advice to people who are experiencing difficulties due to substance misuse. You will have your own caseload, working as part of our team and alongside other social care services to identify how we can help. You will develop plans with your clients to help them get their lives back to where they want them to be. We are determined and always professional in our approach to each and every case and we never judge, we're just here to help. There will be assessments to carry out and records you need to keep and update, that's all part of our professional commitment and service to our clients and commissioners.
Our vibrant services in Wigan and Leigh provide support to people concerned about their own or someone else's alcohol or drug use. We have services in both Wigan and Leigh but much of our work is carried out in the local communities we serve.

To be successful in this role, you will:
- Have attained ONC/NVQ level 3 or be willing to achieve this within 12 months
- Have some experience of working in a health, social care or related setting
- Have the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with clients and colleagues alike
- Be able to work effectively in a team, supporting others when needed
- Be resilient under pressure and able to prioritise your work
- Have good oral and written communication skills
- Be comfortable using IT and digital media
- Be organised and able to manage your time effectively
- Able to be flexible with your working hours on occasion
- Be happy to support other WithYou locations when needed
- Have a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
We'll give your application priority if you:
- Have previous experience of working with people who misuse substances
- Knowledge of health and safety, including assessing clients in high-risk situations
Although it is not essential, a driving licence and access to a vehicle is preferred. You will also need to meet our safeguarding requirements of a satisfactory enhanced DBS check.
Please note, working hours for this position are Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm with some occasional work until 7pm on a rotational basis. This is a Fixed Term Contract until 31st March 2026.
