This role offers a unique opportunity to lead the development of a groundbreaking hydrogen production and storage system for the company’s first commercial vessel class. As Head of Power Plant, you will play a pivotal role in delivering a world-first renewable energy solution, influencing design, build, and operation to combat climate change.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and delivery of the hydrogen system, including water purification, electrolysis, compression, storage, and offloading, ensuring safe operation.
- Advance concept and feasibility designs through FEED, detailed design, commissioning, and project delivery for the first vessel and future fleets.
- Produce key documentation such as P&IDs, heat and mass balances, HAZID/HAZOP studies, and hazardous area classifications.
- Act as primary contact for technology providers, EPCs, shipyards, and vessel design teams.
- Collaborate with procurement and project managers to align hydrogen system delivery with vessel build schedules.
- Support regulatory discussions with classification societies and government agencies.
- Maintain a project and technology risk register with robust mitigation plans.
- Ensure designs align with sustainability objectives, identifying opportunities and deviations.
- Engage in government consultations and advocacy to shape policy.
- Support business development through client and off-take interactions.
- Manage equipment and subsystem delivery schedules to meet project timelines.
The Person/Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering.
- Experience in process plant system development, ideally in hydrogen or industrial gases.
- Strong stakeholder management, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Ability to produce technical documentation and manage project risks.
- Knowledge of offshore, maritime, or energy sectors (desirable).
- Familiarity with electrical systems (desirable).
- Chartered Engineer status (desirable).
- Passion for innovation and accountability in a dynamic team environment.
