We are looking for a Locum Rehabilitation Instructor to cover an assignment with the Ministry of Defence (MoD), at HMS Collingwood Medical Centre, in Fareham, Hampshire. This is a locum role (37.5 hours per week) and the successful candidate will deliver an exceptional standard of care to the MoD service personnel.
Job Description:
- Manage patients from the Navy, Army and RAF that present with musculoskeletal (MSK) injuries and deliver appropriate exercise rehabilitation to return serving personnel to full fitness and maximise operational effectiveness.
- Perform appropriate clinical assessments and design and implement safe and progressive exercise treatment programmes for patients in accordance with the ERI Standards of Proficiency to Practice.
- Keep a record of all specific treatments given including individual patient programme exercises and group therapy sessions.
- Deliver group-based exercise therapy sessions (up to a max of 15 patients) to restore normal function in co-ordination, balance, posture, walking/running re-education, lifting and carrying, mobilisation and strengthening, recreational therapy and pool-based rehab/fitness sessions.
- Work as an integral member of a multi-disciplinary team to provide a comprehensive and professional rehab service.
- Develop good working relationships and work collaboratively with managers and members of the multi-disciplinary team.
- Adhere and contribute to all aspects of clinical governance and assurance.
- Communicate effectively with patients to ensure informed consent for treatment, good understanding of their condition and treatment plan.
- Communicate complex information clearly through presentations and in writing to patients and other members of the MDT.
Essential requirements/ Qualifications/ Experience:
- Must meet one of the following:
- Hold a BSc (Hons) in Sports Rehabilitation and maintain a Full Graduate Membership with the British Association of Sport Rehabilitators and Trainers (BaSRaT).
- Hold a BSc (Hons) in Sports Therapy and maintain Full Graduate Membership of the Society of Sports Therapy (SST).
- Be a qualified military ERI having successfully completed the Joint Services School of Exercise Rehabilitation Instructors (JSSERI) course.
- Hold a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy and be registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (HSPC).
- Must have a minimum of 2 years post qualification experience managing group/class-based exercise therapy for musculoskeletal (MSK) injuries, including evidence of treating MSK injuries gained within the last 2 years.
- Where an ex-military ERI is employed and the completion of the RCP cannot be met, the individual must show evidence of clinical currency when being employed within their respective agency. Completion of the RCP must happen on employment.
- Must be in date and able to provide certification for Safeguarding Children and Young People and Safeguarding Adults up to and including Level 3 training.
