UK Centre for Artificial Intelligence for the Public Sector (UK-CAIPS): a collaboration between the London Borough of Newham and the University of East London, aims to harness AI to transform public service delivery. It focuses on issues like housing, social care, climate change, and economic inclusion, developing ethical AI solutions to improve decision-making and efficiency at local government levels, with potential influence on national policy.

This role offers an opportunity to contribute to impactful projects, engage with policymakers, and shape AI strategies to address societal challenges through interdisciplinary collaboration.

Job Purpose: This role provides an exciting opportunity to support the development of UK-CAIPS. As a research assistant, you will explore how AI can improve public services, focusing on temporary housing, social care, the local economy, and sustainability. Your responsibilities include developing predictive models to prevent homelessness and optimize temporary accommodation allocation, contributing to AI-driven data integration, and creating ethical AI governance frameworks to ensure responsible AI use while safeguarding data privacy and security.

The successful candidate will contribute to research development, collaborate with UEL and LBN leads, and develop their research profile. They will also support the Centre's communication efforts, including impact measurement, societal evaluation, and producing accessible materials demonstrating AI benefits in public service delivery.
