About the Role
We are looking for a commercially minded and relationship-driven Associate Director to join our fast-growing Debt Advisory practice in London. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys structuring bespoke debt solutions and working closely with entrepreneurial businesses to solve complex funding challenges.
You will focus exclusively on the lower mid-market—typically deal sizes around £5–£15 million—supporting owner-managed and private equity-backed businesses. Your success will come from understanding what clients truly need, crafting tailored debt structures, and guiding them through the entire financing process.
Key Responsibilities
- Client Discovery & Needs Analysis: Work directly with business owners, CFOs, and boards to understand their capital requirements, strategic goals, and funding constraints.
- Debt Structuring: Design and deliver tailored debt packages—including term loans, revolving credit, working capital, and asset-backed lending—aligned to each client’s situation.
- Lower Mid-Market Focus: Operate specifically within the lower mid-market segment, where funding needs are often complex but not served by large-cap-style structures or teams.
- Lender Relationship Management: Build strong connections across a wide range of funding providers, including high street banks, challenger banks, ABLs, and private credit funds.
- End-to-End Deal Execution: Lead the financing process from initial engagement through structuring, negotiation, and closing, managing all stakeholder relationships along the way.
- Market Intelligence: Keep a pulse on debt markets, lender appetites, and evolving credit products to deliver high-impact advice to clients.
- Financial Analysis: Conduct and review detailed financial models, cash flow assessments, and covenant structuring to support tailored recommendations.
Key Requirements
- 1–5 years’ experience in debt advisory, leveraged finance, corporate finance, commercial lending, or related roles.
- Demonstrated experience working with lower mid-market clients—not just large-cap or investment-grade lending.
- Strong track record of structuring complex lending solutions tailored to SME/mid-market needs.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and credibility with business owners and senior finance professionals.
- Strong financial and credit analysis capabilities.
- Entrepreneurial, proactive approach with a commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes.
- A developed lender network is a bonus but not essential—we’ll help you build one.
Why Join Us?
- Focus on impactful, lower mid-market transactions with direct client exposure.
- Work in a high-growth advisory business with a collaborative and entrepreneurial culture.
- Gain hands-on experience structuring debt across a range of sectors and situations.
- Competitive compensation, career development, and the opportunity to take on real responsibility from day one.
If you’re passionate about delivering tailored debt solutions for growing businesses and thrive in the lower mid-market space, we’d love to hear from you. Apply now and help shape the future of SME and mid-market funding.
