Newcastle City Council (City Transport) is seeking an experienced, time-served Heavy Goods Vehicle technician for a permanent position. City Transport maintains and repairs a diverse range of heavy & light vehicles, plant, and horticultural equipment. It also has two MOT stations testing class 4, 5 & 7 vehicles, licensed taxis, and hackney carriages.

We want to hear from you if you have the skills and experience to efficiently maintain, diagnose, and repair the council's plant, horticultural equipment, and LGV fleet, including knowledge of DVSA & Operators Licence standards to prepare & present LGVs for MOT. You should be able to work to deadlines, consistently produce quality work, and maintain safety standards at all times.

Join us as a permanent team member, primarily based in our Heavy workshop at Newington Rd.

Requirements include:

  • A recognized apprenticeship in motor vehicle engineering to NVQ level 3 or equivalent.
  • A category B driving licence is essential.
  • A C LGV licence or valid MOT tester qualification is advantageous.
