Independent Technical Assessor – Cardiac Physiology Services (IQIPS Accreditation)

Location: Remote with UK travel

About the Role

UKAS is looking for experienced professionals in Cardiac Physiology Services to work as Independent Technical Assessors. This role involves assessing healthcare organisations as part of the Improving Quality in Physiological Services (IQIPS) Scheme, ensuring they meet national standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess cardiac physiology services for accreditation under the IQIPS Scheme.
  • Review business processes, information systems, and quality assurance measures in cardiac physiology departments.
  • Evaluate a range of invasive and non-invasive cardiac procedures, including ECG, echocardiography, catheter lab interventions, and implantable devices.
  • Ensure compliance with national quality standards and best practices.
  • Conduct on-site assessments, providing expert advice and recommendations.

What You Need

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

  • BSc in Healthcare Science (Cardiac Physiology), Clinical Physiology, or a relevant scientific discipline.
  • Minimum 4 years’ post-qualification clinical experience in adult cardiac physiology.
  • Accreditation with the British Society of Echocardiography (BSE) or Heart Rhythm UK / International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners (IBHRE), or equivalent within your area of practice.

Strong knowledge of:

  • Cardiac assessment techniques.
  • Information systems used in cardiac physiology services.
  • Quality assurance and improvement processes in cardiac services.
  • Business processes and systems in cardiac physiology departments.

Desirable Skills & Experience:

  • Knowledge of the full range of invasive and non-invasive cardiac physiology procedures.
  • Diploma in Electrocardiography.
  • Immediate Life Support (ILS) certification.
  • Experience in service management or team leadership.
  • Awareness or involvement in IQIPS or other accreditation schemes.

Professional Registration

Essential: Registered with the Registration Council of Clinical Physiologists (RCCP).

Desirable: Membership of the Society for Cardiological Science and Technology (SCST) or Academy of Healthcare Science (AHCS).
