Mechanical Engineer role in Bury St Edmunds

Salary: £48,000 – £50,000

Responsibilities:

  • Perform corrective and preventive mechanical maintenance
  • Perform repairs of production and processing equipment as well as utility related equipment
  • Support the installation of new equipment
  • Ensure all repairs are documented
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean, orderly, and neat work area
  • Complete all paperwork neatly and correctly
  • Participate in BOPEX (continuous improvement) program
  • Comply with all procedures, regulations and policies applicable
  • Stop and report unsafe operations and use mandatory PPE as defined
  • Offer flexibility in working hours subject to business needs

Ideally we are looking for someone with:

  • The successful candidate will have completed their NVQ Level 3 engineering apprenticeship mechanically biased
  • Experience working in heavy plant environment (approx. 5 years +)
  • Experience working on PLC and SCADA control systems (Mitsubishi, Siemens, Rockwell and Fanuc)
  • Work experience in a FMCG environment (food and beverage would be an advantage)
  • Knowledge of LEAN manufacturing techniques is preferred
  • Food Hygiene certificate
  • Clean driving license

Working Hours:

  • Mon Start: 2 Days 06:00 – 18:00, x2 nights 18:00 – 06:00, 5 Days off
  • Wed Start: 2 Days 06:00 – 18:00, x3 nights 18:00 – 06:00, 4 Days off
  • Fri Start: 3 Days 06:00 – 18:00, x2 nights 18:00 – 06:00, 5 Days off
