HMRC’s Fraud Investigation Service (FIS) tackles serious fraud, evasion and organised crime against the tax system through civil and criminal investigations. HMRC plays a key role in combating economic crime, leveraging its unique position as a tax authority, law enforcement agency and anti-money laundering supervisor. Our operational teams deter, disrupt and remove assets from tax fraudsters, ensuring compliance with money laundering and terrorist financing regulations.

As a Strategy and Governance officer in the FIS Economic Crime ("EC") Civil Recovery and Insolvency Strategy Unit, you’ll use your expertise in proceeds of crime, civil recovery and insolvency to support Operational Case Teams and assist the G7 lead. You’ll work across HMRC and with external partners to deliver technical support and governance, devise clear strategies and ensure robust civil recovery and insolvency interventions.

Essential Criteria:

  • Evidence in-depth experience and knowledge of either Civil Recovery work and/or insolvency work and/or proceeds of crime work
  • Innovative strategic thinking and tactical planning
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to effectively influence and engage stakeholders at all levels
  • Proven ability to prioritise and manage a diverse workload, flexing capacity across areas to ensure deadlines are met without compromising quality

HM Revenue and Customs contributes £12,778 towards you being a member of the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme. HMRC operates both Flexible and Hybrid Working policies, allowing you to balance your work and personal commitments. We offer a generous leave allowance, starting at 25 days and increasing by a day for every year of qualifying service up to a maximum of 30 days. Successful candidates must undergo a criminal record check and meet the security requirements before they can be appointed. The level of security needed is security check.
