With plans to see SP Energy Networks (SPEN), part of the ScottishPower Group, look to invest over £5bn in transmission projects across our transmission network in central and southern Scotland by 2030, the Operational Support team will play a key role in supporting SPEN to work at pace to deliver the transmission network that is required to support ambitions Scottish and UK Government 2030 targets.
We are looking for a technician to assist the Senior Project Engineer in managing the Transmission Operations Civils department. The postholder will provide essential support to operational staff, enabling the safe and reliable operation of our network. This role is based at our Cambuslang site, with the requirement to travel to various field locations across the SPT Network.
What you’ll be doing:
- Assist in delivery of SPT civils OPEX and CAPEX programmes, faults and emergency works, inclusive of project finances and contract management.
- Assist with the management of system defects and the delivery of repair programmes in conjunction with the Senior Project and Planning Engineers.
- Contractor management and field supervision of transmission civil works to ensure works are being delivered efficiently.
- In liaison with Operations Staff, accurately collate all relevant information regarding repair or follow up work and pass to relevant stakeholders for continuation.
- Monitoring and reporting of Contractor Activities.
- Assist with environmental repairs at Transmission Sites.
- Carry out site and operational risk assessments on associated contractors.
- Awareness of and compliance with Company Health, Safety and Environmental requirements and update them on issues as they arise whilst working with your team towards a zero-accident culture.
- Capture feedback and issues from Operational Safety and Compliance Audits, Quality Audits etc and address any non-conformances.
- Deliver excellent customer service to all aspects of your operation. Actively promote and strive to deliver customer service standards within area of responsibility.
- Take responsibility and accountability for tasks and activities and contribute to the achievement of team goals by providing support, advice, encouragement, clear direction and coaching when appropriate.
What you’ll bring:
- The ability to manage work programmes, carry out resource planning and lead and motivate a team.
- Knowledge of civil activities required within Transmission Substations and Transmission Plant and Equipment (Preferable).
- Willingness to embrace new technology and work to provide solutions to allow efficient maintenance and repair of Transmission Equipment.
- Able to demonstrate technical competence in relation to Transmission Civils and Maintenance Activities.
- Site Management Safety Training / Safety Passport.
- Knowledge of HASAWA Regulations.
- Full valid driving licence.
