As a Safeguards SME, you will support the Growth Projects by providing support, advice, and guidance on all aspects of Safeguards concerning any new build within the Westinghouse UK site. You will report directly to the Project Manager from a delivery perspective and to the Head of Security and Safeguards to ensure compliance with The Nuclear Safeguards (EU Exit) Regulations 2019 (NSR 19).
Key Responsibilities:- Implement Safeguards by design expectations.
- Familiarise with The Nuclear Safeguards (EU Exit) Regulations 2019 (NSR 19).
- Understand the ONR Nuclear Material Accountancy, Control, and Safeguards Assessment Principles (ONMACS).
- Ensure compliance with safeguards regulations and implement changes accordingly.
- Advise on Nuclear Material Accountancy and Control ONR regulations and assess impacts on new projects.
- Liaise with stakeholders on international and national best practices.
- Understand the Springfields Accountancy Control Plan.
- Advise on safeguards requirements during all project phases.
- Manage the production of Nuclear Material Accountancy reports for stakeholders.
- Coordinate with the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) regarding reporting, audits, and assessments.
- Ensure adherence to Safeguarding Springfields Site Instructions.
- Support projects as a NUMIS “superuser”.
- Advise site management on safeguards requirements and ONR expectations.
- Degree or HNC/HND qualification, or minimum 5 years' relevant experience in a similar role, preferably within a nuclear environment.
- Technical expertise in nuclear fuel-related safeguards issues.
- Knowledge of safety cases and implications for new builds.
- Experience designing and implementing accountancy plans for new facilities.
- Support for nuclear sector new build projects, including data analysis and reporting.
- Ability to interpret government guidance and regulations into policies and procedures.
