The Electronic Engineer develops integrated hardware solutions, both utilising COTS components and designing bespoke systems, through design, development, verification, and validation. In this role you will:
- Produce electrical interconnect designs, cable schedules, ICDs, wiring schedules, LV distributions, earth & bonding strategies.
- Assess the impact of EMI / EMC, RoHS, REACH and LV Directive on the electrical designs.
- Satisfy the HW requirement set through design, development, and test activities.
- Implement the hardware architecture in physical and electrical form, fit and function.
- Support Manufacturing and Procurement during the build phase, i.e. respond to Problem Reports and implement Engineering Change Requests.
- Define the Design Proving / Hardware Test Specifications and use these during qualification.
- Design and develop any special test equipment to facilitate the above.
Requirements:
- General Electronic and Electrical Engineering (degree level).
- Designing cables and harness assemblies, utilising military style connectors and backshells, such as MIL-DTL-38999.
- An understanding of cable screening methods and military style cable construction methodologies.
- Strong relevant experience of the skills listed above or associated experience that can be applied to electronic, electrical and electro-mechanical design in a regulated industry.
- Design and specification of COTS and bespoke sub-assemblies and equipment suitable for 19” racks / cabinets.
- Interconnection Design (i.e. wiring harnesses, copper or fibre optical network interconnections, connector types, power distribution and data comms, spatial constraints, environmental considerations).
- Full engineering lifecycle experience (Capture, Design, Implementation, Test).
- Production of Design / Test Specifications and Test Reports.
