PURPOSE

Leads and manages cross functional Bid Teams across a matrix structure. Will successfully close new and renewal business opportunities related to strategic large and/or complex solutions. Responsible for people management and development of a team of Bid Managers based in locations across the world. Responsible for defining the bid process and driving continued transformation to enable SITA to improve bid efficiency and achieve growth targets.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage all aspects of assigned bids from qualification to contract signature.
  • Lead and co-ordinate activities of cross-functional bid team.
  • Manages the development of the optimum bid strategy and associated appropriate levels of response in order to successfully win each strategic contract.
  • Develops the overall bid plan and builds and manages the virtual Bid Team to achieve the bid deliverables in an effective and efficient manner.
  • This includes leading the process of identifying potential partners and selecting / negotiating / contracting with such partners.
  • Owner of the submission to the customer.
  • Manages and coordinates the negotiation team in the pre-contract stage with the Customer including the setting up of appropriate commercial partnership agreements and underpinning contracts to support contract deliverables whilst ensuring that the relevant internal expertise is involved in the closure of commercial financial and legal issues with the customer.
  • Plans for and ensures a smooth transition from the Bid Team to the delivery team upon contract signature.
  • Manages the approval process for the bid; technical and commercial in accordance with the appropriate corporate guidelines.
  • Prepare and manage presentation of SITA's response to the Customer.
  • Communicates progress regularly and clearly to the relevant SITA senior management and stakeholders ensuring that major issues are escalated and addressed.
  • Lead Bid Management function for the Borders business unit.
  • Owner of the Bid Process.

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE

  • Proven ability to lead, motivate and inspire diverse bid team, located across multiple locations.
  • Experience in border management, aviation industry or IT is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience in leading complex bids and proposals.
  • Exposure to the vendor side is a plus.
  • Experience in developing successful relationships at all levels within the organization.
  • Experience in managing teams to perform under pressure and consistently achieve tight deadlines.
  • Preferably having worked in a multinational company.
  • Experienced in bidding to Governments in various countries and regions around the world.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Skilled people manager, able to mentor and develop the capabilities of other bid and proposal managers.
  • Relevant understanding of border management processes, or of airport and airline operations an advantage.
  • In depth knowledge of the Bid process and best practices.

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS

Bid management or proposal management certification such as APMP is preferred.
