The Senior Project Manager for Ports plays a crucial role in preparing and delivering technical submissions during the tender process and overseeing project execution post-award. Reporting to the Business Development Director, this role involves leading multidisciplinary teams, managing technical proposals, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in port project construction and delivery, strong project management expertise, and a deep understanding of procurement processes. The Senior Project Manager is responsible for ensuring high-quality, innovative, and compliant technical solutions that meet client expectations in the ports industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Bid Manager/Director to develop a technical strategy aligned with tender requirements.
- Provide input on key technical differentiators and innovations to enhance bid competitiveness.
- Participate in bid/no-bid decision-making, providing technical insights on feasibility, risks, and project alignment with company capabilities.
- Identify areas for value engineering or alternative technical solutions to enhance the bid.
- Lead the technical aspects of bid preparation, ensuring all documentation, designs, and methodologies meet client specifications and industry standards.
- Develop a clear and compelling technical narrative that communicates the company’s expertise and approach.
- Ensure compliance with tender requirements, reviewing specifications, scope of work, and all relevant technical details.
- Coordinate with internal departments and external consultants to develop accurate technical solutions.
- Draft technical content, including construction methodologies, resource allocation plans, design management, and risk assessments.
- Ensure consistency and clarity in technical responses across different sections of the bid.

- Assist in the smooth handover of successful bids to the delivery team, ensuring all technical solutions, methodologies, and risks are clearly communicated.
- Provide ongoing technical support during the contract negotiation phase and project kick-off, if required.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Significant experience in the successful construction and delivery of port projects.
- Prior experience in procurement and tender processes for port projects is highly desirable.
- Proven experience managing small to large-scale port projects, ensuring timely and successful delivery.
- Strong technical knowledge of port design and construction methodologies, including compliance with specific regulations.
- Sound understanding of Health and Safety Executive (HSE) regulations relevant to port projects, ensuring the highest standards of compliance.
- Expertise in managing budgets, financial controls, and reporting for complex port projects.
- Proficient in project management methodologies and practices, including scheduling, contracts administration, procurement, and risk management.
- Proven ability to resolve complex problems across estimating, contract administration, procurement, and project planning.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to coordinate and collaborate effectively with various internal and external teams.

- Proven track record of delivering projects on time and budget, with an exemplary safety, quality, and sustainability record.
