This strategic leadership role focuses on the development of globally robust design and product differentiation through driving adoption, collaboration of best practice engineering methods, tools, process. The role shall partner with our engineering managers to deliver excellence in engineering and efficient support model. Shall facilitate the cross functional benefits from market-in into concept to product for increased market share and profit in Cryogenic/Turbo/Valve market. This role will lead on engineering assurance and independent assessment to maintain safety and compliance.
Main Responsibilities
- Head implementation and the drive to embed engineering efficiency improvement and engineering best practice with clarity on process, system and tools.
- Bringing to our entities the insight of the Group and BA learning.
- Partnering with the Engineering Managers at PCs for full implementation and benefit.
- Work with the engineering teams in setting requirements that develop product platforms that service a broader customer base and enable operational efficiency throughout our value stream to create long term economies, for example, standardisation and common parts/features.
- Partner the product management teams to enable improved business case outcomes through comprehensive master specification creation, optimised design thinking and with alignment to through life management into service.
- Champion the cross functional imperative of new product introduction, gaining clear ownership and accountability to improve our product time to market.
- Engage with other divisional teams to create once and use many times.
- Coach and support the PC teams to ensure full embodiment of concept to product through proactive upfront governance.
- Provide leadership and guidance to assure independently our design process and compliance activities.
- Act as single point of contact for the nominated product line to aid the time-zone locality interface constraints for the benefit of the Product Company and to improve bandwidth.
- Work with the Product Companies to create right sized global capability for each product line that defends political or trade limitations for our product to market.
- Ensuring the engineering divisional strategy is executed to ensure we can optimise our product lines, continue growth and supporting the business line management focus.
- Lead on establishing the engineering support model shared resources, this group will report into the role. Head of Engineering Excellence will navigate priorities.
It Goes Without Saying That You’ll
- Have Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Engineering or a related Scientific discipline.
- Have 5+ years’ experience leading new product development in high-tech or high-change environments, with a proven ability to build, develop, and lead high-performing, cross-functional teams.
- Have strong demonstrated strategic leadership and people management capability, with experience operating across global, decentralised teams.
- Have proven ability to influence, build relationships, and drive strategic plans with clear, actionable outcomes.
- Be technically resilient and solutions-focused, with strong analytical thinking and the ability to assess complex technical, commercial, and regulatory inputs.
- Be action orientated and shown track record of delivery to commitments.
- Have a track record of delivering results in complex, matrixed environments, with a deep understanding of design authority, engineering quality, safety and compliance.
- Be experienced in systems engineering and requirements management to enable innovative, scalable solutions.
- Have excellent communication, influencing, and negotiation skills, with the presence to engage effectively at senior levels across diverse cultures.
- Fluent in spoken and written English, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively across global teams.
