WSP have an opportunity for an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer, in our London office, focusing on the Data Centre sector with our Mission Critical Facilities team. You will have the opportunity to work on some of the most exciting and technically challenging projects within this fast-paced sector. WSP are currently involved in numerous projects, working with Colocation Providers, End Users and Enterprise clients, both within the UK and across EMEA.
A little more about your role…
- Support the team in developing conceptual designs for electrical distribution systems from EHV, HV, MV to Low Voltage incorporating high voltage equipment, generation equipment, UPS plant, low voltage switchgear and power control and monitoring systems.
- Provide advice to clients regarding electrical systems/requirements available to meet their business needs.
- Lead the design of data centre electrical systems and equipment.
- Provide written reports of system options in the form of design development notes.
- Produce technical specifications for electrical systems, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and client requirements.
- Ensure coordination with other disciplines including Architect and Structural engineers.
- Produce calculations, technical/equipment specification documentation for tender.
- Monitor installation of designed equipment/systems to ensure compliance with employers’ requirements, design specifications and all relevant safety codes.
- Be comfortable in a client-facing role discussing technical subjects with the ability to discuss and agree client requirements.
- Work independently and as part of the WSP global project team.

What we will be looking for you to demonstrate…
- Chartered status with CIBSE or IET (or working towards Chartered status) or equivalent experience.
- Technical knowledge of relevant UK & EU regulations, design guides, etc.
- IT literate with a technical understanding of relevant IT packages i.e. Trimble (formally Amtech).
- An understanding of the ETAP software package for HV modelling (Fault current, current flow & harmonics).
- An understanding of the Neher-McGrath method of calculating underground cable temperatures & ampacity.
- An understanding of the Tier classifications as defined by The Uptime institute, TIA942 and EN50600.
- Able to work as part of a team as well as ability to effectively lead, direct and mentor individuals.
- Have understanding of working with RevitMEP or other 3D design software to allow the allocation / direction of work on projects.
- Have working knowledge of AutoCAD to allow the allocation / direction of work on projects.
