CNC Machinist / Manual Machinist / Machining Technician required to join a growing precision manufacturing company based in Houston, TX.
The CNC Machinist / Manual Machinist / Machining Technician will be responsible for setting up and operating manual and CNC lathes, mills, and other shop equipment to support both production and engineering operations in a low-volume, high-mix environment. The role involves blueprint interpretation, machine maintenance, and contributing to quality and safety standards across the facility.
The ideal candidate will have experience with multi-axis CNC machines, fixture setup, gauging tools including CMMs, and a good working knowledge of CNC programming and GD&T.
Role:- Perform complete machine setups on manual lathes, CNC lathes, and mills across various part types and programs.
- Read and interpret complex engineering blueprints and drawings aligned with GD&T principles.
- Carry out machining operations to support both production and engineering floors.
- Maintain equipment and work area in a clean, safe, and organized condition.
- Conduct preventive maintenance per PM schedules and inspect machines for wear or damage.
- Operate and understand gauging equipment, including CMM, and verify gage calibration.
- Set up fixturing and tooling as per job requirements.
- Understand CNC programming basics; ability to create and edit programs is a plus.
- Follow all engineering instructions, standard operating procedures, and departmental guidelines.
- 3+ years' experience in CNC machining within a production or industrial manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of gauging tools, machine safety, and fixturing.
- Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Familiarity with CNC controls and programming languages.
- Must be able to read technical drawings and machine documentation.
- Physically able to lift up to 25 lbs and stand/move around the shop floor.
- Strong math skills and ability to use precision measuring tools.
