We are working on behalf of an Energy and Environmental Consultancy who are seeking a motivated and highly skilled Energy and Carbon Analyst to join its team in Scotland. This role will focus on collecting, analyzing, and interpreting large sets of data related to energy consumption, carbon emissions, and sustainability initiatives. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and an interest in working with environmental data to support clients in achieving their carbon reduction goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Data Analysis & Reporting: Collect, process, and analyze energy consumption and carbon emissions data from multiple sources (e.g., building management systems, utility bills, energy meters). Develop reports and dashboards to present insights on energy use, carbon emissions, and other sustainability metrics for clients. Use data analytics tools to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for energy and carbon reductions.
- Carbon Footprint Calculations: Support clients in calculating their carbon footprint based on consumption data and industry-specific factors (e.g., greenhouse gas emissions factors). Assist in the development of carbon reduction strategies and targets using data-driven insights.
- Sustainability Strategy Development: Collaborate with senior consultants to assist in designing and implementing sustainability strategies. Contribute to energy efficiency projects, identifying areas for improvement and cost savings based on data analysis.
- Data Management & Visualization: Maintain and update energy and carbon data systems, ensuring accuracy and consistency. Create visually engaging charts, graphs, and presentations to communicate complex data findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Client Interaction & Support: Provide data analysis and reporting support to clients on energy performance and carbon management. Work with clients to ensure energy and carbon data is collected accurately and consistently.
- Industry Research & Knowledge Sharing: Stay up-to-date with industry best practices, regulations, and tools related to energy management and carbon reduction. Contribute to internal knowledge-sharing sessions and workshops on data analytics and energy management topics.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Energy Management, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field - or equivalent experience/qualifications.
- Experience: At least 1-2 years of experience working with energy data, carbon reporting, or environmental consultancy (preferable). Experience using data analytics tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI, Tableau) to process and visualize data. Knowledge of carbon accounting methodologies (e.g., GHG Protocol) and sustainability reporting frameworks (e.g., CDP, ISO 14001) is a plus.
- Technical Skills: Strong proficiency with data analysis and management tools. Knowledge of energy systems, carbon reduction technologies, and environmental regulations is beneficial. Familiarity with energy modeling software would be beneficial but not essential.
- Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify patterns and trends in large data sets. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex data insights clearly. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Self-motivated, analytical thinker with a passion for sustainability and environmental impact.
