Onsite role in Edinburgh. Full-time position in the ASPIRE Managed Services Practice: Services Reliability Group.
Vetting Requirements: BPSS/SC Clearance/CTC Clearance level is mandatory.
This is a technical position that requires experienced infrastructure configuration and management, with strong communication and customer service focus, as well as excellent technical network and security knowledge. The successful applicant will participate in the tooling choice, architectural design, configuration, deployment, and management of the customer IT Estate. We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Level 3 VMWare Infrastructure/Cloud consultant. This is a hands-on role requiring excellent communication and technical skills.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Support multiple clients across multiple technologies.
- Mentoring of junior team members.
- Consult with customers and across a cross-team environment.
- Documentation and development of designs, processes and procedures.
- Work within a structured ITIL / ISO20000 IT Service Management environment.
- Works directly with client to gather requirements, design solutions, build proof of concepts and implement solutions.
- Excellent presentation and reporting skills arising from customer facing and on-site experience.
- Very strong verbal, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required.
- Escalation point for major incidents/investigations.
Qualifications:
- Solid technical aptitude, the ability to work in a team, good people skills and a minimum of 3 to 5 years' experience working within a similar technical role.
- Proven experience deploying, supporting and troubleshooting VMWare ESXi & Hyper-V.
- VMWare certified Disaster recovery and site replication solutions experience using VMware Site Recovery Manager.
- Working knowledge in networking and security best practice (Cisco Certified preferred).
- Strong working knowledge of modern Microsoft technologies - Active Directory, Microsoft Entra, AVS.
- Interpreting, understanding and solving complex technical problems/incidents.
- Project or support delivery experience with client facing background.
- Strong experience across multi-server, standalone and clustered solutions.
- Good broad technical knowledge across Microsoft Azure and AVS.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills required.
Desirable skills:
- Exposure to ITSM Toolsets e.g. ServiceNow, JIRA.
- Experience with backup technologies (e.g. Veeam, Rubrik, Data Protector, and/or CommVault).
- ITIL Foundation Certificate in IT Service Management.
