DP World is looking for a Legal Counsel to join our North European Legal Team, reporting to the Senior Legal Advisor – North Europe. This is a dynamic, lean, and focused team with a wide geographic reach. We are looking for a motivated self-starter who is commercially minded and practical, who takes pride in providing high levels of service to the business.
NOTE: This is a hybrid opportunity and will be based out of Regional Head Office in London, but with the flexibility of dividing your work week between the London office or either of our two ports in Thurrock and Southampton. There is a requirement to undertake occasional business travel as required, specifically in the North European region.
How you will contribute:
- Advise on complex transactional, commercial, HR, and compliance/regulatory issues across our logistics, freight forwarding, and port operations businesses in North Europe.
- Review, draft, and negotiate a variety of corporate, commercial, and employment-related agreements, including logistics customer contracts, procurement contracts, lease agreements, terminal service agreements, and freight forwarding contracts.
- Support regional responses to RFPs, RFQs, and business expansion opportunities.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with senior business leaders, peers, and legal colleagues across North Europe.
- Collaborate with regional and global legal teams to ensure alignment in legal processes, policies, and compliance frameworks.
- Engage and manage external counsel to provide cost-effective legal support.
- Assist with subsidiary management, corporate governance, and M&A transactions.
- Support the formulation and implementation of legal policies and procedures.
- Closely cooperate with other regional and global legal teams to ensure synergy between legal departments, appropriate awareness of activities, and maintenance of consistent processes and procedures.
What you will bring:
- Excellent academic credentials: qualified in England & Wales.
- 3-5+ years PQE with strong emphasis on commercial contracts, logistics, freight forwarding, and port operations.
- In-house experience in a logistics, freight forwarding, or port operator company is highly preferred.
- Strong transaction management skills and excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a high degree of personal and professional integrity.
- Fluent/professional working proficiency in English; proficiency in any other additional European languages is a plus.
- Understanding of basic economic and accounting principles and practices.
- Experience working with multi-jurisdictional legal matters and regulatory frameworks in North Europe.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
