The predicted salary is between 45800 - 65100 £ per year.

The role plays a critical part in protecting the Department for Transport's (DfT) financial position. The postholder will lead on the process and analysis of complex finance information to ensure that taxpayers' interests are well defined and protected.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Effectively, accurately and promptly review financial management information (e.g. primarily financial statements in each of the operator's management accounts and audited accounts) to proactively identify risks and possible disputes and develop mitigations to issues.
  • Taking a portfolio-wide approach to assessing risks across the TOCs, identifying any anomalies or inconsistencies, and developing and sharing best practices.
  • Support others across DfT to effectively, accurately and promptly review financial management information to proactively identify risks and possible disputes and develop mitigations to issues, including running regular training and audit samples.
  • Lead on the development, implementation and regular review of the financial risk management framework and drive improvements in maturity.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Experience and knowledge of the audit and assurance sector, and the ability to build and establish collaborative and effective relationships with a wide range of senior stakeholders, working through others to deliver objectives where appropriate.
  • Experience of building subject matter expertise.
  • Experience of gathering, analysing and interpreting financial information.
  • Experience of presenting complex financial information to a broad range of audiences (including those from a non-financial background).
  • Experience of working with complex contractual documentation and contractual language.
  • Experience of balancing competing objectives and views to deliver a solution.
