We have an excellent opportunity for a passionate game developer to join our Total War team as an Associate Gameplay Programmer. Based at our well-established studio in Sussex, UK, you will be a key member of the code team working on our next unannounced Total War title. In this role, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on our games by bringing your knowledge, experience, and enthusiasm to push the boundaries of the strategy genre through collaboration with the wider development team.
Our team operates with a hybrid working model, requiring at least 2 days per week in our Horsham studio for in-person collaboration. This role cannot be fully remote. Further details will be discussed during the recruitment process.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain high-quality, stable, and performant code in C++ and C#.
- Solve complex problems, design, and optimize systems to be maintainable and extensible.
- Prioritize pragmatism and delivery, making appropriate trade-offs for high-quality outputs.
- Contribute to technical design in AI, UI, and gameplay areas.
- Collaborate with team members to uphold high standards.
- Write clean, maintainable, and extensible code.
- Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and a self-motivated attitude.
- Communicate technical details effectively across disciplines.
- Maintain a passion for games and game development.
- Possess C# programming experience.
- Have industry experience in a similar role within game development.
- Experience with the full game development lifecycle.
- Experience working within large codebases.
- Have broad gaming experience and good game design sense.
- Be an avid gamer, ideally with an interest in strategy games.
