The company designs and manufactures high-performance systems for critical environments across sectors such as automotive, construction, and data centres. Due to continued growth, they are now seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer with strong SolidWorks skills to join their engineering team.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain a high-quality library of 3D models and 2D drawings for manufacturing, certification, and customer use
- Interpret specifications, sketches, and customer data to produce accurate design solutions and technical drawing packs
- Modify existing models and drawings to meet project requirements and ensure clarity, compliance, and manufacturability
- Collaborate with R&D, CNC, and production teams to optimise designs, minimise waste, and support efficient product handover
- Create documentation and renders for design projects, customer communications, tenders, and marketing materials
- Perform stress and material behaviour analysis to support design validation where required
- Attend technical meetings and contribute to project implementation, working towards agreed engineering KPIs
- Support Quality and Compliance teams with models and drawings for audits, certification, and regulatory requirements
Experiences required:
- Proven experience in 3D CAD modelling using SolidWorks
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- Ability to produce detailed technical drawing packs for manufacture (DFM)
- Proficient in FEA tools, ideally SolidWorks Simulation or alternatives such as Abaqus, ANSYS, Nastran, Simcenter, or Altair
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality standards (desirable)
- A full UK/EU driving licence is required
