Are you a mechanical engineer looking for a new challenge in innovative product development? We’re hiring a Mechanical Engineer for a 6-month fixed-term contract with a hybrid working model. Join our team to lead exciting New Product Development (NPD) projects from concept through to production launch.
The Role
As the Project Lead Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for providing expert mechanical engineering input across assigned NPD projects. This includes:
- Conducting technical research and problem analysis
- Designing and prototyping innovative products
- Leading qualification testing
- Supporting new product introduction (NPI) into production
You’ll play a key role in turning ideas into high-quality, manufacturable solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive documentation for each project stage (Stage-Gate process)
- Create and manage CAD models and technical drawings (SolidWorks preferred)
- Develop and execute detailed test plans for validation and improvement of designs
- Work closely with production to ensure smooth product introduction
- Contribute technical expertise to cross-functional teams throughout product development
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
- Degree qualified in a relevant engineering discipline
- Proficient with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred)
- Ability to clearly present technical concepts and designs
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
Desirable:
- Experience with simulation tools and design optimisation (e.g., FEA, DFMEA, DFMA)
- Knowledge of electrical/electronic integration (e.g., connectors, power systems)
- Understanding of relevant industry standards (e.g., IP ratings, IK ratings, ATEX)
- Hands-on experience with prototyping and testing methods (3D printing, machining)
