Part-Time (Freelance)

Purpose of the role: The Assistant Buyer supports the Buyer in the smooth and commercial delivery of the Pringle product range to drive profitable sales growth. This role manages the process to ensure collections are appropriately priced, effectively produced, and meet quality expectations aligned with department and business standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting the Buyer in all aspects of product development.
  • Buying & developing ranges in line with the range plan and business strategy.
  • Contracting orders with suppliers to critical path, delegating to admin if necessary.
  • Overseeing buying information on the range plan for accuracy and timeliness.
  • Sample management.
  • Critical path management.

Range Development:

  • Develop ranges according to the plan, margin, and supply partner agreements.
  • Place orders and manage availability to 95%.
  • Maximise sales through trading and OTB strategy within parameters.
  • Manage critical path and own all approval stages.
  • Liaise with suppliers and sourcing to explore sourcing opportunities with department head/BD approval.
  • Collaborate with merchandisers to produce lessons learned for future ranges.
  • Produce monthly market and competitor reports for future strategies.
  • Present ranges for sign-off.
  • Monitor sales and performance.
  • Understand cost price, margin, and quantity requirements.

Critical Path & Fit Process:

  • Update and manage critical path weekly.
  • Report launch date exceptions weekly to the buyer.
  • Coordinate with team, merchandising, and technical departments through garment approval stages.
  • Delegate or approve fabrics, colors, and trims for delivery.
  • Attend fit sessions and approve samples efficiently.
  • Report QC issues and solutions to the buyer.
  • Manage late delivery debit notes and logistics reporting.

Samples:

  • Ensure timely delivery of SMS and photoshoot samples, managing trackers and handovers.
  • Manage invoicing and courier charges within budget.
  • Coordinate with technical teams for fit sessions and sample organization.
  • Arrange sample sign-offs, note amendments, and manage storage.

People:

  • Collaborate cross-functionally on proof approvals and input buying info into the product database.
