BEAR Scotland is a leading provider of highway maintenance services across Scotland. We manage and maintain over 2,000km of Scotland's trunk road network, tackling just about every imaginable task and working round the clock to help keep Scotland moving.
The North West Trunk Road Unit spans some 1,422km of trunk road through some of the most scenic parts of the country. It also includes 1,501 bridges and structures, including the Kessock Bridge which carries the A9 north of Inverness and the A87 Skye Crossing. The North West Unit covers a huge area of Scotland, from Thurso and Wick in the very north of the Highlands down to Campbeltown in Argyll and Bute, from Uig on Skye to Perth and Stirling in the central belt.
The Landscape operative will carry out landscape duties including grass cutting, weed control etc. This is a full time role.
Responsibilities and Activities- Preparation/inspection of machinery and equipment for day's work
- Attend all relevant toolbox talks
- Filling in of weekly timesheet and relevant paperwork where required
- Report vehicle defects and ensure that accidents/incidents are reported accordingly
- Any other duties as required
- Experience of landscape works
- Basic knowledge of landscape operations and machinery
- Preferably hold a current driving licence
- Ability to develop skills within the department
- Ability to carry out basic reporting
- Good at working in a team
- Good work ethic
- Knowledge of the requirement of Health and Safety rules and procedures
- Physically fit for working in sometimes arduous conditions
- Ability to problem solve
- Flexible to working practices
- Ability to cope with change
