As an HV Planning Engineer within the Strategic Planning team, you will ensure that both the HV network and any associated new connections are planned in accordance with current Electricity North West licence conditions, policies and national standards. Working in ENW’s planning centre of excellence, Design Engineers respond to internal and external technical queries and must be dynamic in their approach to providing solutions.
In your first few weeks in this HV Planning Engineer role, you can expect to:
- Develop the HV network in accordance with all appropriate standards;
- Plan new demand and generation connections to the network;
- Undertake post-connection acceptance studies to ensure acceptable technical operation of the network subsequent to the planned connection;
- Review other studies for compliance with G5/5, P28 and P29;
- Review new generation for compliance with G99.
What We’re Looking For:
- HNC level (essential) or degree (preferable) qualification in Electrical Engineering.
- An excellent understanding of the UK power system distribution network across all voltages;
- Thorough technical knowledge of electrical network components, network operation, operational policy, network design standards, Codes of Practice and Engineering Specifications;
- In-depth knowledge and experience of the electricity distribution business, specifically an understanding of regulatory and industry standards within electricity distribution;
- Proficient in the use of power systems software, including IPSA and DINIS.
