We have a great opportunity for a committed Field Laboratory Technician to join our Infrastructure Division and wear the SOCOTEC badge with pride.

We are looking for a dependable, dedicated and flexible Field Laboratory Technician to join our UKAS accredited Construction Materials Testing Special Labs team. As a member of Special Labs, it is key that you are able to thrive in a team environment, as well as independently. The fundamental part of the role is to determine the physical properties of a wide range of materials including concrete, earthworks, aggregates and bituminous mixtures to ensure compliance with specifications. All testing will be undertaken in line with a range of British, European and American standards so a good attention to detail and the ability to follow procedures is required.

The tasks you will undertake will include (but are not limited to):

  • Sampling and testing of construction materials on site and in the laboratory
  • Collection of materials for laboratory testing
  • Completion of test sheets, including all calculations
  • Liaison with Laboratory Manager and Section Manager on work schedules
  • Production of reports in line with QA systems
  • Undertake tasks in line with Company QHSE protocols
  • Calibrate test equipment to conform to internal QA & UKAS standards

Previous experience of site/laboratory testing of concrete, soils, aggregates and bituminous mixtures would be advantageous. Knowledge of UKAS accredited laboratory practices would be beneficial.

About Materials Testing: Our Materials Testing team perform an extensive range of testing and compliance services across a wide range of construction projects including highways, rail, airfields, ports, harbours, power stations and sports stadia in addition to new build projects across industrial, commercial and residential properties.
