Applications are invited for a Specialty Doctor in General Radiology, full-time 10 PA's per week position. This is a fixed-term temporary post for 12 months. Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust is a general hospital with a supra-regional plastics and burns service. The Trust provides acute and specialist hospital services to over 500,000 people in Mid and South Buckinghamshire. It has two acute hospital sites at Wycombe and Stoke Mandeville, as well as peripheral sites, the largest in Amersham. The world-renowned National Spinal Injury Centre is located at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, and the Radiology Department offers a wide range of specialist imaging and interventional services.
The department offers opportunities for teaching and research. Radiology registrars from Oxford rotate through the department, and as of this year, the training of two IR Fellows is shared with Oxford. Qualifications required include full GMC registration and relevant specialist experience. Many clinical services have been recently reconfigured across the Trust, with most acute services localized at Stoke Mandeville. Wycombe remains the acute site for cardiology and hyper-acute stroke, serving Buckinghamshire and Berkshire.
The radiology department at BHT is highly regarded within the Trust as approachable and innovative. It has consistently achieved the highest scores in Oxford radiology registrar feedback over the past decade in the regional program. The department focuses on delivering excellence through developing subspecialty radiologists and maintaining general radiology skills, supporting role extension.
The post is full-time (10 programmed activities) for a Specialty Doctor in Radiology. The successful candidate will join a team of 20 consultant radiologists. The post is based at Stoke Mandeville Hospital but requires working at other sites as needed. The post holder will contribute to general duties including a duty radiology system, hot and cold reporting, combining both special interest and general reporting. Ultrasound lists, including specialist and some general examinations, are undertaken by radiologists. The post also involves minor interventional procedures related to the candidate's special interest and urgent inpatient procedures such as chest aspiration/drainage and ascites drainage.
