We have an exciting new opportunity for a Data Management Specialist. You will be involved in delivering our Data Strategy, mature our Data Management capabilities and support our Microsoft Fabric and Purview implementation. You will help us support and enhance our enterprise data management practices within a dynamic financial services environment. This role will be responsible for helping us shape our Data Management roadmap and will introduce and establish all Data Management capabilities including Meta data Management, Master Data Management, Data Lineage, Business Glossaries and Data dictionaries. You will mature our Data Ownership and stewardship communities, support our data literacy programme, working as part of the Data Office and key member of the Data Governance function, ensuring data quality, consistency, integrity, and governance across multiple lines of business, supporting strategic decision-making and regulatory compliance. We offer Hybrid working; however, your presence will be required in our Bournemouth offices (happy to discuss). This role is a 6 month Fixed Term Contract.
Key Accountabilities:
- Working in close collaboration with the Head of Data, Data Governance Implementation Lead, DPO and a Data Quality specialist to establish the Data Governance and management team.
- Oversee the acquisition, collection, storage and analysis of our business data with a Data Management best practice and compliance lens.
- Actively contribute to Data Risk management and our risk assessment processes by identifying data risk, defining and establishing data management controls to mitigate data risk.
- Develop and implement data management strategies and support the evolution of the technology road map for Data Governance and management capabilities.
- Drive and support our master data management (MDM), roadmap, working in close collaboration with our Single Customer View (SCV) Engineers.
- Act as Data Office Implementation lead for Purview (Fabric Data governance tooling).
- Assist with the integration, transformation and migration of data to our new Microsoft Fabric platform and labelling best practices for Fabric.
- Ensure our sensitive and personal data is effectively safeguarded, implementing controls to manage our Data risks.
- Support Data Migration activity and perform data governance and management audits and validation checks.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations (e.g., BCBS 239, GDPR, CCPA, Basel, etc.).
- Collaborate with data owners, stewards and custodians, IT, and business units to ensure proper data classification, lineage, usage and ensure retention schedules are maintained.
- Act as technical advisor and SME for Data Owners and Stewards on all Data Management capabilities, standards, policies and best practices.
- Coach and mentor Data Owners and Stewards as required, providing training and coaching materials as required.
- Support the creation of and contribute to the Data Governance forum, providing technical expertise and input.
Skills & Experience:
Essential:
- Experience in data management, data governance, or related roles in the financial services sector.
- Strong understanding of financial products, transactions, and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Proficiency with data management and governance tools (e.g. Purview, Collibra, Informatica, Alation). Purview experience is significant advantage.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Experience with cloud data platforms and storage solution such as Fabric / Azure.
- Proficiency with SQL and other database languages.
- Ability to work with large datasets and conduct detailed analysis.
- Experience of ETL processes.
- Familiarity with data privacy and protection regulations (e.g. GDPR, CCPA).
- Certification in DAMA DMBOK, CDMP, or equivalent is an advantage.
Preferred:
- Certification in DAMA DMBOK, CDMP, or equivalent is an advantage.
- Purview, understanding of key features, capabilities, and best practices.
- SQL and Azure / Fabric, AWS, GCP.
- Knowledge of financial data models and frameworks.
- Experience in data remediation, data migration and data quality projects.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with IT, compliance, and business units.
